Skilling for a Sustainable Future in Western Australia
The report includes broad national and international research on 'green skills' initiatives and details of extensive consultations with Training Councils, industry associations, registered training organisations and individual companies in Western Australia.
The report contains six recommendations including a comprehensive industry engagement strategy for the Department of Training and Workforce Development and industry at the enterprise level on how 'green skills' should be further developed in the medium term.

Training together -working together
Connecting employers with Aboriginal job seekers, promoting Aboriginal role models and removing barriers to participation in the workforce were among the key recommendations outlined in the Training together-working together strategy released on 4 June 2010.
Launching the strategy at the inaugural Training together-working together summit at Burswood Entertainment complex, Training and Workforce Development Minister said the strategy will ensure that Aboriginal people have improved opportunity to participate in the State's emerging and future skills requirements and job opportunities.

Training WA: Planning for the future 2009-2018
In May 2009, the Minister for Training released a plan for the future of Western Australia's training system for the next 10 years. The plan aims to transform the State's training system and position Western Australia to respond to future employment demands. It includes immediate, medium and long term initiatives as the blueprint for the Government's investment in the State's training system.

National VET Sector Sustainability Policy and Action Plan (2009-2012)
The National VET Sector Sustainability Policy and Action Plan (2009-2012) was recently released by the Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE). Overcoming I'm too Busy
The expression “I’m too busy (to undertake training) because of the boom” was used regularly by interviewees in this study, to describe the attitude of many people in small business in Western Australia (WA). This attitude is of deep concern to many different stakeholders in WA involved in small business training, as these stakeholders believe that many more skills are needed in small business immediately. Stakeholders also believe that many small businesses will not have the skills to adjust if or when the resources boom plateaus or ends.
