State Training Profile

The State Training Board, in accordance with the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996, prepares for the Minister of Education and Training a State Training Profile ('the Profile').

The Profile is a comprehensive plan for the provision of vocational education and training in Western Australia for the following three years.

The Profile features an integrated and systematic approach to planning and draws on the analysis of a range of social and economic data, industry advice provided by the Training Councils and throughout regional planning process.

The Profile articulates the priorities and directions for publicly funded VET from 2009 to 2011, based on the identified training needs of Western Australian industry and regional communities.

The following link provides access to the State Training Profile. The information in the industry and regional sections of State Training Profile 2009-2011 was collected prior to the global economic crisis and it is recommended that these sections be read in conjunction with information provided in Chapters 2-6.

Using an extensive planning process, the Profile has been prepared to align with State priorities and is supported by economic and labour market analysis, modelling and research.

The Profile has been compiled in consultation with enterprises, many of whom conduct nongovernment funded training. The Profile has also been based on consultations with TAFEWA colleges and private registered training organisations and provides a comprehensive plan for the training sector over the next three years based on research and analysis of Western Australian industry and regional community training needs.
